Dr. Metellus first declared her interest in becoming a doctor during a Children’s Day service at her church while in elementary school. Dr. Metellus was motivated to pursue medicine due to her desire to serve others and inspiration from her amazing and attentive pediatrician. That desire was further solidified during a medical mission trip she took to Nicaragua with her alma mater Rutgers University’s (RU RA RA!) chapter of the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC). During that trip she learned the impact limited resources and access to care can have on an individual’s health and overall wellbeing. Her medical studies at Rutgers RWJMS further exposed her to the many health disparities that exist and taught her the importance of striving to overcome challenges to better serve patients and their families. She used that same dedication and determination during her Family Medicine training in the rural Glades community in Florida. There is gained ample experience in well child examinations, physicals, well woman exams, preventive care and much more. Dr. Metellus values educating patients and empowering them to become active participants in their health journey. She believes that compassionate, culturally sensitive care is the foundation of a strong patient and provider relationship. She is committed to meeting each patient where they are with patience, respect and a genuine desire to help them optimize their health and overall wellness. After relocating from Florida to Maryland, Dr. Metellus is excited to serve the children and adult patients of Bay Community Health with the same devotion and dedication that has motivated her throughout her journey in medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Metellus enjoys relaxing at home, spending quality time with her family, traveling and exploring different cultures and appreciating the little things that make life memorable.
