Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Erica Johnson serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Bay Community Health, bringing more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience across multiple sectors of healthcare, including community health, behavioral health, long-term care, and home health.
Her journey in healthcare began at the bedside, starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant and advancing through clinical roles to become a Registered Nurse before moving into executive leadership. This comprehensive, ground-up experience shapes her people-centered leadership approach and deep understanding of the care delivery system.
Dr. Johnson holds a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, as well as dual master's degrees in business administration and healthcare administration. She is also a Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator (CHEC) and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Her academic background is matched by practical expertise in organizational performance, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and workforce development.
In addition to her executive roles, Dr. Johnson has held academic appointments, teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in nursing, healthcare leadership, and health services management. Her teaching experience reflects her commitment to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals and reinforces her strength in translating complex healthcare strategy into frontline impact.
Prior to joining Bay Community Health, Dr. Johnson has led award-winning cross-functional initiatives in federally qualified health centers and hospital systems, earning recognition for her work in leadership development, staff engagement, and quality improvement. She has successfully led teams through TJC surveys, CMS audits, HRSA operational site visits, and large-scale public health crises, including the H1N1 and COVID-19 pandemics.
Dr. Johnson is deeply passionate about advancing health equity, expanding access to care in underserved communities, and ensuring that healthcare organizations remain responsive, innovative, and compassionate. Under her leadership, Bay Community Health continues to expand its reach and impact across Southern Anne Arundel County and surrounding communities, committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to all.

Bay Community Health has been serving southern Anne Arundel and neighboring counties as a Community Health Center for over forty years. We provide Internal and Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, Insurance Eligibility /Enrollment and Care Management Services in a Patient Centered Medical Home Environment.
A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is defined by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as a community-based health center that receives federal funding (from HRSA) to provide primary care services to underserved areas. They often provide options for patients such as sliding fee discount programs to help with medical fees. BCH joined the FQHC family in December 2013 and is the only FQHC located in Southern Anne Arundel County.
OPC is a deemed health center as part of the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).
